RECENT WORKS

I work in series to explore different themes, evoke mood, and capture moments in time.

Sign of the Times, Morning Light, Landscapes, and Wildlife are the four themes I am ossicalting between currently.

Sign of the times

Inspired by the MOTEL sign in Coleman, Alberta the pieces in this series are a discourse between humankind and nature. The advent of neon sign was to get you to stop on your journey. Today we, as a society, are always striving to find the 'hidden gems'. Scrolling though Instagram and other online mediums to find them.

"To place them (neon signs) in my adult playground of the mountains begs the question of how nature inspires human creation of entertainment and shelter." - Tara

Serendipiously, it also happens to be the 100th year anniversary of the first Motel.

Morning Light

Living in the Western Canada you often wake up to a heavy fog. Tree tops tease there way through the mist.

This series is an exploration of this blanketed landscape, capturing the rolling layers of fog, clouds and mist with nine to fifteen layers of cold wax and oil paint, letting the light dance of the painted series throughout the day and into the night.

Landscapes

Capturing the dancing light, clouds playing in the sky, and fields disappearing into the horizon are all passions of Tara's. Bold colour choices and brushstrokes draw you into her pieces, transporting you to a moment in time.

Wildlife

Up-close and personal encounters with wildlife is part of Tara's daily life. In her paintings of them she captures their curiosity and gives the viewer an intimacy of crossing paths with them as you do people in the city.
